【Touchscreen Navigation Experience】 Building Mountain Trails | 2023 ITF Taiwan Pavilion - Handcrafted Trail Ecological Construction Simulation

Project Design Concept: To promote the ecological sustainability of "handcrafted trails" at the ITF Taiwan Pavilion, we transformed technical engineering knowledge into a meaningful interactive experience. Visitors take on the role of trail maintenance volunteers on a touchscreen, learning how to use on-site materials and traditional construction methods to build trails. By selecting the right tools and techniques, participants gain a deeper understanding of how to balance hiking accessibility with ecological preservation — conveying the idea that trails are made by people, and maintained by people.

Interactive Experience Flow:

• Role Immersion: Visitors tap the screen to begin, taking on the role of a trail volunteer protecting the mountain forest.
• Construction Decisions: Faced with different terrain challenges (such as steep slopes and muddy ground), participants choose the tools with the least environmental impact (such as hoes and stones) to carry out construction.
• Results Display: After completing the construction, the screen reveals a beautiful trail that blends into the natural surroundings, along with the ecological benefits of the chosen method — achieving the goal of education through engagement.
