【Physical Object Interaction】 Stamp Showdown | 2023 ITF Taiwan Pavilion - Endemic Species Recognition Speed Challenge

Project Design Concept: To give visitors a more tactile interactive experience at the ITF Taiwan Pavilion, we upgraded the traditional stamp rally culture into an exciting two-player digital speed challenge. Using HTC Tracker positioning and tracking technology, we transformed physical stamps into game controllers. Participants hold custom-made stamps and compete in a reaction-speed face-off. This preserves the hands-on fun of stamping while adding real-time digital feedback, making the process of identifying Taiwan's endemic species both tense and entertaining.

Interactive Experience Flow:

  • Two-Player Physical Battle: Two players each hold a digital stamp and stand in front of an LED screen, ready to test their eyesight and hand speed.
  • Precise Endemic Species Targeting: Images of various animals and plants cycle rapidly across the screen. Players must stay focused — when a Taiwan endemic species (such as the Formosan black bear or the Formosan landlocked salmon) appears, they must quickly stamp the sensing zone to score. If a non-endemic species appears, they must hold back.
  • Ceremonial Feedback: Every correct stamp triggers a burst of visual effects and sound on screen. Final scores are tallied to determine the winner, giving a simple physical action the satisfaction of genuine competition.
